Sunday, August 18th. 2002
Today, Sunday August 18th, we have 107 people from all over the world and from many Christian denominations joining together in prayer. Our reflection for the week is on praying for each other. (The reflections are taken from the writings of Rob and Debbie Gass and used with the kind permission of United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) from their FREE daily devotional - The Word for Today. They allow the publication of 52 of their passages per year and I find their messages apt and thought provoking for the times we live in. The Word for Today) Also included in these weekly mailings will be the prayer intentions of all those who have asked us to pray for them during the week. They can be found at the bottom. I have a request for very special prayers for the parents of Jessica and Holly, their whole community of the little town of Soham in Cambridgeshire, England and for the soul/s of the murderer/s of these two little 10 year old friends. http://www.moytura.com/prayer/prayerbook.html
We should continue to say the short prayer to the Holy Spirit to enlighten and guide us through the week and the lovely little prayer to the Lord giving Him our whole selves every day. God Bless you all and thanks a million for being part of the Circle of Prayer. God Bless you all -
the Prayer Warriors, as one of the group calls us!
**************************************************************** "O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me, tell me what I should do. Give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your will. Amen" ****************************************************************
" PETER WAS KEPT IN PRISON, BUT THE CHURCH WAS EARNESTLY PRAYING. " ACTS 12 : 5 (NIV) Sometimes it's hard to pray for yourself. That's when you need somebody else to agree with you in prayer. Not somebody who'll judge your situation or pray for the world at large, but somebody who knows how to intercede with God for your finances, your children, your marriage. James had just been executed and Herod was planning to kill Peter the next morning. You'd think he'd have been up all night praying like crazy, but he wasn't. "Peter was sleeping" (v6). Wow! Where do you get that kind of faith? Listen: "...the church was earnestly praying to God for him" (Acts 12:5 NIV). Any time you can sleep in the face of death, or experience unnatural grace in the midst of chaos, it's usually because of two things: (1) You've learned how to hand the situation over to God. (2) Somebody is praying for you. The church didn't pray, "Lord, if Peter was really a man of God he wouldn't be in this mess," or "Now that he's in jail, who's going to preach for us next Sunday?" No, while they prayed for a breakthrough, God was at work on the other side of the city dispatching an angel to set Peter free. That's how it works! Feel as if your prayers aren't getting the job done? Find somebody who'll agree with you in prayer, for Jesus said, "...if two of you...agree about anything...it will be done for you by My Father in heaven" (Matthew 18:19 NIV). Short Prayer for Today "Dear Lord, I know that where two or three are gathered together in Your name that You are there with us. I know too, that when we seek, ask and knock on the door with our prayers they are answered. Together we lift our prayers to You for our own intentions and the intentions of all those who have asked us to pray for them during the week. Amen" |
