Added Sunday 24th November 2002

Hello everyone,

Today, Sunday 24th November, we have 241 people from all over the world and from many Christian denominations joining together in prayer. Apologies for not sending out a Reflection last week, family needs called, and this weels will be short and sweet as we're just in from a weekend away with family. There won't be a reflection next week either as I'm off to spend a long weekend with the beautiful lady who gave birth to her firstborn child on December 1st, my Mom. Our reflection from Bob and Debbie Gass this week is "Working Out What's Already Within" and taken fromThe Word for Today a FREE quarterly Daily Reflections booklet and great to have at your bedside for morning and night reading. It sure makes me think!

I've been working on migrating the Circle of Prayer over to its own domain and it is nearly completed. There are a couple of sections yet to be done but the new navigation system allows me to add in topics much more easily and site visitors should be able to see at a glance all that is within the website. It can now be found at: Circle of Prayer

The Weekly Intentions are included below and available on a plain page to be able to print off and kept to hand for your own prayer time.

"Father, bless all those who have requested prayers in whatever it is that you know they may be needing this day! Father, we ask You to heal the broken bodies, broken hearts, broken spirits and broken relationships and may all their lives be full of your peace, prosperity, and power as they seek to have a close relationship with you. Amen."

Don't forget the new section in the Circle of Prayer dedicated to LIFE

Thank You Jesus for answering our prayers because we know You hear every prayer and never refuse to answer. You are providing answers and healings from the prayers of all these wonderful people. Praise God!

I'll be sending out the text I need translated during the week, about 3-400 words in all. Still looking for French, Portuguese and some of the East European languages, particularly now that many of these countries will soon be in the EU, God Help Them!

God Bless you all and thanks a million for being part of the Circle of Prayer - the Prayer Warriors. Don't forget to make out your list of family names back the generations for the next few weeks reflections.

Please say the two wee prayers below as often as you can, particularly the first one to the Holy Spirit if you need to see things in a clearer perspective.

"O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me, tell me what I should do. Give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your will. Amen"

"Dear Lord, I give you may hands to do Your work; I give You my feet to go Your way; I give You my eyes to see as You see; I give You my tongue to speak Your words; I give You my mind that You may think in me; I give You my spirit that You may pray in me. Above all, I give You my heart that You may love in me - love the Father and love all humankind. I give You my whole self, Lord, that You may grow in me, so that it is You who lives, works and prays in me. Amen."

As this is the last weekend of November we should focus again on the need to pray for our deceased relatives and friends. Our last reflection looked at intergenerational healing and how we can be affected by unresolved issues and unrepented sins of our ancestors. Those working in the healing ministry can confirm that past actions or occult involvement of any kind in our ancestors can carry forward through the generations. Based on the work of Dr. Ken McAll and Father Robert de Grandis, among others, many, many priests are seeing the value of having special masses for Healing the Family Tree. Near us here in Galway there is a Christian Community called Emanuel and on the last Saturday of every month they hold a special healing service and Holy Mass for the family and deceased members. Much physical and spiritual healing has taken place at these.

Pray It Forward

Saint Bridget of Sweden, a 14th century Mystic and Visionary, was given a set of Prayers by Our Divine Lord with five promises to all those who prayed them. By focusing on the seven times Christ lost blood on our account, saying the set of prayers daily over a period of 12 years reciting a prayer and ending each one with an Our Father (the Lord's Prayer) and a Hail Mary He promised the following:

  • The soul who prays them suffers no purgatory
  • The soul who prays them will be accepted among the Martyrs as though he/she had spilled their blood for their faith
  • The soul who prays them can choose three others whom Jesus will then keep in a state of grace sufficient to become holy
  • No-one in the four generations of the soul who prays them will be lost
  • The soul who prays them will be made conscious of his/her death one month in advance
This is a tough assignment, twelve years is a big commitment but what great promises they ensure - I really like the fourth one. Being able to cover my whole family right down to my great grandchildren with prayer is well worth the effort I reckon. Don't know that I could choose three specifically so I reckon Our Lord will hear my request to protect the three family members most in need.

The seven losses of His Precious Blood were:

  • The Circumcision
  • The Agony in the Garden
  • The Scourging at the Pillar
  • The Crowning of Thorns
  • The Carrying of the Cross
  • The Crucifixion of Jesus
  • The Piercing of the Side of Jesus
If anyone would like to start this set of prayers they will be added to the website during the week on a plain page that can be printed off.

Working Out What's Already Within

" praise be to the God...who has blessed us...with every spiritual blessing in Christ. "  Ephesians 1 : 3 (NIV)

When you stumble or face a problem, God doesn't jump off His throne and say, 'John's in trouble, Mary's in a mess, I'd better act!' No, He's already placed within you all that's necessary to handle the situation and overcome it. Maturing in Christ is simply the process by which we learn to work out what God has already worked within.

Think about a baby in its mother's womb. It already has every gene, chromosome, and trait required, built into it from conception. Likewise, when you're born into God's family, you don't just get one or two spiritual blessings, you get every spiritual blessing. As a baby Christian you don't know who you are or what you've got, so the Holy Spirit's job is to reveal it to you. When you go through a crisis, you don't need to go out and look for faith, or grace, or strength, or anything else. You already have them residing within you! Just learn to draw on them!

Furthermore, you don't need to go looking for a more powerful person to pray for you. God wants to bring you to the place where you can...lay hands on your own head...minister to your own needs...speak peace to your own spirit...command calm within your own home! And that will happen, when you learn to acknowledge and activate the spiritual blessings He's already placed within you.

Moytura has several other sites with a 'Christian flavour'. Prayerful Thoughts & Thoughtful Prayers is a little collection of prayers and thought-provoking stories, and a few links to some other really nice websites. Reflections for Lent offers a daily meditation for the 40 days of lent and the week leading into Easter. As part of my Journey section of the website join me to learn a little of the Early Christian Church in Ireland by visiting Clonmacnoise, founded by St. Ciaran on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th. Century. Read about Saint Brendan the Navigator who started a Monastic settlement in the tiny village of Clonfert in the 6th century, located on the Galway/Offaly/Tipperary border. Travel on my journeys to two of Canada's most famous Catholic Shrines - Saint Anne de Beaupré and Cap de la Madeleine, both on the shores of the Saint Lawrence river in Quebec. Finally I welcome you to come with me to see a little of Medugorje, a peaceful haven in a war-torn country - Bosnia-Herzogovina. Please also pay a visit to  Moytura's Irish Bookshop where you can find books on the history of Christianity in IrelandIrish Prayers and Celtic Christianity
