Today, Tuesday August 13th, we have 102 people from all over the world and from many Christian denominations joining together in prayer. My last email to you all spoke about the need for prayers of forgiveness and healing and the possible link with our past through intergenerational healing prayer. There is a prayer of forgiveness and healing included below. Each week we can look at different areas in our own lives and from the past that might be causing us pain or unhappiness.

I thought it might be good to have a reflection for the week with a little prayer. The reflections are taken from the writings of Rob and Debbie Gass and used with the kind permission of United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) from their FREE daily devotional - The Word for Today. They allow the publication of 52 of their passages per year and I find their messages apt and thought provoking for the times we live in. The Word for Today

Also included in these weekly mailings will be the prayer intentions of all those who have asked us to pray for them during the week. They can be found at the bottom. The list of prayers to date is far too long to write them all down so perhaps we could just include them as a group. From now on I will list those that come in from Mondays to Sundays and make them brief. The Lord will know their needs and take care of them.

Before each week's reflection let us just say a short prayer to the Holy Spirit to enlighten and guide us through the week, a prayer of forgiveness and a lovely little prayer to the Lord giving Him our whole selves every day. God Bless you all and thanks a million for being part of the Circle of Prayer.

PS for those who received last month's 'newsletter' I'm still at home, still frustrated about it all and still placing all my trust in Our Divine Lord - In His time.

"O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me, tell me what I should do. Give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your will. Amen"

"Dear Lord, guide me through the areas in my life right back to the moment of my conception, the time in my mother's womb, my childhood years and each year since. Show me those times when I was hurt or rejected by others - my mother or father, my brothers or sisters, my grandparents, aunts and uncles, my extended family, my spouse and children, my friends, school pals and teachers, my work mates and bosses, my priests and church ministers, my civic and national leaders, my health care workers, police and social workers. Anyone who in any way hurt or rejected me throughout my life. Help me to forgive those who caused me pain and sorrow, fear and anger.

Help me especially dear Lord, to forgive myself for anything that separated me from You! From any action of mine that caused pain and suffering to others. Give me the courage to seek the forgiveness and express the real regret to others over any word, action or deed of mine that caused them to feel hurt, rejected or angry. In Your forgiveness lies peace. Lord, grant me that peace of mind, body and soul that can only come from You. Amen"

"Dear Lord, I give you may hands to do Your work; I give You my feet to go Your way; I give You my eyes to see as You see; I give You my tongue to speak Your words; I give You my mind that You may think in me; I give You my spirit that You may pray in me. Above all, I give You my heart that You may love in me - love the Father and love all humankind. I give You my whole self, Lord, that You may grow in me, so that it is You who lives, works and prays in me. Amen."

On The Other Side Of The Wall
" and the Lord said unto Joshua, 'see, I have given into thine hand Jericho...' " Joshua 6 : 2

Everything God promised to Joshua was just on the other side of Jericho's wall. From that, we learn two important things:

(1) Your blessing is on the other side of your problem! The land will be yours, once the wall comes down. And it will, for Jesus is your enemy-exposing, strategy-giving, wall-toppling conqueror.

(2) You've got to fight for it! Don't let that intimidate you. You're not fighting in your own strength, and you're not fighting alone. You say, 'What can I do?'

(a) Realise that victory begins on your knees. Everything changed when Joshua prayed, 'What saith my Lord unto His servant?' (Josh 5:14).

God has a plan, and He'll reveal it to you if you seek Him.

(b) The enemy has no defence against God's Word. Three different times Jesus used it to 'face him down.' After the third time, we read, 'The devil leaveth Him, and...angels came and ministered unto Him' (Matt 4:11).

If your stand outlasts the enemy's, he'll flee, and God will send in reinforcements!

You can count on it! Paul says we are to '...withstand in the evil day... ' (Eph 6:13).

Note, your enemy only has a day; his time will soon be over. Don't give up, moments before victory, or inches from the prize. What would have happened if Joshua had quit on the third or fourth time around the walls? Keep going! Your victory is just on the other side of the wall!

Short Prayer for Today

"Lord, I know You are with me today in all my adversities, my sorrows and pain. You have said: "Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, Knock and the door will be opened unto you." Today, dear Lord, I ask, I seek and I knock. Help me now to be able to hand all over to You and to accept the outcome. Not my will be done but Thine."

Moytura has several other sites with a 'Christian flavour'. Prayerful Thoughts & Thoughtful Prayers is a little collection of prayers and thought-provoking stories, and a few links to some other really nice websites. Reflections for Lent offers a daily meditation for the 40 days of lent and the week leading into Easter. As part of my Journey section of the website join me to learn a little of the Early Christian Church in Ireland by visiting Clonmacnoise, founded by St. Ciaran on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th. Century. Read about Saint Brendan the Navigator who started a Monastic settlement in the tiny village of Clonfert in the 6th century, located on the Galway/Offaly/Tipperary border. Travel on my journeys to two of Canada's most famous Catholic Shrines - Saint Anne de Beaupré and Cap de la Madeleine, both on the shores of the Saint Lawrence river in Quebec. Finally I welcome you to come with me to see a little of Medugorje, a peaceful haven in a war-torn country - Bosnia-Herzogovina.
