This page will
link to a variety of topics on how challenges in the courts of our lands
force our national leaders to introduce legislation that, at times, can
only be described as 'dancing to Satan's Tune'. It certainly highlights
the need to keep our legislators in constant prayer. Here in Ireland a
recent referendum to change the wording of our constirutional protection
of the unborn was defeated.. The wording in the new attempt to change the
constitution was protection from the time of 'implantation' not from 'conception',
which would have opened the door to legalised embryonic and stem cell research
using early-stage human embryos.
So much prayer went up to Heaven on this devisive issue that I firmly believe the Lord is guiding this with His own hand. All the more reason why we now need to pray constantly that any legislation passed will protect every member of society, especially those 'little people' who do not yet have a vote - the unborn citizen of this country. The EU is forcing EU Law upon us 'dressed up as' the Social Charter on Human Rights. Hidden within this charter is liberalism and secularism in the extreme. In the 70's I read a book called 'The Vision' by Rev. Dave Wilkerson and his predictions on the European Union certainly seem to be coming to pass now. As citizens of our own countries and, for us in Europe, of a larger entity, we need to be constantly vigilant and use our personal or collective lobby to speak with our Public Representatives. We need to be kept informed of upcoming legislation and how it will affect us. In 2001 the EU prepared for the conclusion of the Nice Treaty, the main component of which is further enlargement of the EU from 15 nations to 27. Ireland voted against the Nice Treaty at referendum. We are the only nation in the EU that exercise the right of the people to vote on changes in our constitution thanks to an insightful challenge in our Supreme Court in the 70's by Raymond Crotty. This man could very well have 'saved our bacon', God Bless him, we owe him a lot. However, our democratic decision was not heeded and we were forced to vote again, this time yielding a Yes vote. I wonder how many times they would have ignored our democratic decision to acquire their much needed Yes vote for ratification! I think many of our people had reservations of a diminishing sovereignty, a move towards Federalism instread on Intergovernmentalism, legislation that goes against our moral and ethical standards, the possible compromise of our neutrality, among other reasons. BUT will the EU listen to the voices of its constituents? I really believe we have 'sold our very soul to the devil' and that a defeat this time round might just have forced those in the EU upper bureaucracy to rethink some of their policies. Now, we here in Ireland, have given them carte blanche to do whatever they wish! Is the New World Order finally on the march? If you have a story about legislation which affects the dignity and respect of life from its very beginning to its natural end, or any other legislative issue why not write in to us and we'll include it on the website in this discussion area. We kick off with an interesting little piece sent to me from a friend about Prayer in Public Places in the US. |
